Transportation of the crane

Having been told we have to use a Land Rover to transport the crane. We have decided to use a Land Rover Discovery series 1 or 2; both of these off-road vehicles have the same dimension the series 2 is a facelift model of the series 1.



Length 178.7 in (4539 mm) Width 70.6 in (1793 mm) Height 77.4 in (1966 mm)

Pictured above is a Land Rover Discovery series 1 which was in production from 1989-1999. To transport the crane we will either have to place the crane in the boot with the rear seats folded down, on a roof rack or on roof bars which would have to be installed.

Length 86.6 in (2200 mm) Width 47.2 in (1200 mm) Height 17 in (431.8 mm)

From further research we have come to find that the crane will not fit in the roof rack or in the boot of the car. Therefore we are going to use roof bars, which allow us to mount longer items on the roof of the discovery.



The Picture above is a discovery with roof bars fitted. The dimension of the roof bars are;
Material thickness; 3 mm
Outside dimensions; 32 x 22 mm.
